ARTIST MEETS

Our next Artist Meets session is on Tuesday 6 October, 5-7pm
Join our Marketing and Development Officer, Sophie Lindsey in a sharing session. This is an opportunity to have conversations around your work, whether it’s in progress, the final product, or an initial idea/sketch. So bring something along if you would like to share.
When not at Llantarnam Grange, Sophie works as an artist and creative freelancer, and will also be sharing some work-in-progress. Sophie is currently working on the research and development project Whistles and Disorder, which looks at hen do culture, reading groups, and safety and disorder in public space.
For Artist Meets, Sophie will be sharing some experiments with sculpture, performance, and text. This project is funded by a Create research and development grant from Arts Council Wales.
Artist Meets is a monthly meet up for artists and makers at any stage or experience. It is a small changing group with some regulars along with new faces in each session. It has been running since 2023 and is hosted by different members of our team, along with professional artists and those working in the arts.
Sessions alternate between sharing/work-in-progress, conversations with artists, and talks/workshops for professional development.
We will provide refreshments at each session.
Our 2026 Artist Meets programme is part of Llantarnam Grange 60, a year-long celebration of 60 years of creativity in Cwmbran. Funded by the Colwinston Charitable Trust.

The November Artist Meets will be taking place on Monday 2 November from 5-7.30pm. Running slightly later than our usual sessions and on a Monday!
Artist Meets will take a break in January 2027, and return at the same time on Tuesday 2 February.

Artist Meets is a chance to get together with other artists to create a supportive artistic community, develop skills and knowledge, and inspire you in your practice. These sessions are welcoming to all artists, no matter if you’re an armchair artist or creating art as your profession.
