Criw Celf South East Wales Exhibition 2020-21

Llantarnam Grange delivers ‘Criw Celf’ across South East Wales, working with young people from school years 5-13. Our programme aims to inspire young people to reach their full creative potential- to develop their artistic skills and promote new ways of thinking.

This exhibition features of work from all our Criw Celf age groups and is a selection of work created during workshops led by poet and printer Francesca Kay.

Francesca Kay said:

‘It’s a powerful process, to make words with movable type and print them. Letterpress is a 600 year old craft, brought into the 21st century.

In my Criw Celf sessions I wanted to provide a chance to typeset and print words with personal meaning, and then illuminate them with junk printing, ink and collage. My aim for the young artists was to create eye-catching artworks, with their words at the centre of them. The results are brilliant. Thanks and love to all the young artists, and Llantarnam Grange.’
