Artist Talk: Walter Keeler

LEARNING ROOM
ARTIST TALK: WALTER KEELER
25 MARCH, 11AM

On Saturday 25 March internationally renowned potter Walter Keeler will be giving a talk about his practice and process. Surround by his current exhibition, Walter will share his fascination with pots from the past and give some insight into his use of salt glazes, white earthen ware, and his inspiration from the ceramic fragments he discovered while mud larking as a child.

“I make undemanding useful things like mugs and jugs which bring pleasure and amusement to daily life. Some pots are composed, like sculpture, playing with components, material, and process, which results in surprising pieces which challenge their user to make them work. I hope my pottery brings humour and sensual pleasure despite its sometimes austere appearance.”
