SUMMER CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
21 JULY – 26 AUGUST 2026

 

This summer we are running 6 weeks of creative activities for all ages and abilities! Each week focuses on a particular material, way of making, or theme.

 

Families, adults, and individuals welcome. Activities range from 5+ to 8+ so please check your session before you book. Children need to be supervised at all times.

 

All Tuesday sessions have limited spaces and pre-booking is essential. Please note that the morning and afternoon session are the same, so select one slot when booking.

WEEK 1: MARK MAKING

 

Experiment with mark making through patterns and scribbles with different materials to create decorative papers and playful collages.

 

Tuesday 21 July, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Decorative Papers – Use paint, ink, and pastels to create vibrant decorative papers for marking colourful cut-outs and collage pictures.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

Paper Birds – Use patterned collage papers and drawing materials to create playful paper birds.

WEEK 2: COLLAGE

 

Explore collage that takes inspiration from Bridie Doyle-Roberts immersive installation, Spectrum of Sight.

 

Tuesday 28 July, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Tactile Collage – Join Bridie to create a sensory and tactile collage that is interesting to touch, as well as look at, helping people with sight loss experience art.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 8 +

Wednesday 29 July, 10am -12pm

 

Miniature Chairs – Use collage to create illustrations of miniature chairs inspired by furniture in Bridie’s installation.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

 

Gallery 2 – Drop in

WEEK 3: NATURE

 

Explore plants, patterns, and textures inspired by the natural world through textiles and drawing.

 

Tuesday 4 August, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Batik: Patterns of Nature – Use the technique of batik to create textile artworks inspired by nature. Through this, you will explore different shapes, colours, and patterns through wax resists and dyes.

Wednesday 5 August, 10am -12pm and 1-3pm

 

Nature by Night – Have a go at illustrate the plants, insects, and small creatures that come out at night using white pens, pencils, and colours on a black background.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

WEEK 4: TEXTILES

 

Explore textiles through embroidery techniques and felt!

 

Tuesday 11 August, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Couching – Discover couching, an embroidery technique that makes simple marks or line-drawn images on fabric. This slow textile practice catches thicker, weighted threads that lie on the surface of fabric with a stitch in a thinner thread. Explore altering textures, colours, and stitches to create your own line work and patterns.

Wednesday 12 August, 10am -12pm and 1-3pm

 

Felted Faces – Use colourful felt to create expressive and playful collage portraits.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

 

Gallery 2 – Drop in

WEEK 5: FOOD

 

Get inspired by food, its packaging, and tools through printmaking and drawing!

 

Tuesday 18 August, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Printing Packaging – Make small dry point etchings of items you find in your kitchen cupboards! Experiment with using tetra pack and a pasta maker to make mini prints of cartons, bottles, jars, and more.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 8 +

Wednesday 19 August, 10am -12pm and 1-3pm

 

Bwyd Brooches – Transform drawings and collages into brooches and badges inspired by food! From favourite snacks to striking vegetables, get creative with food and its packaging to make mini artworks you can wear.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

 

Gallery 2 – Drop in

WEEK 6: BOOKS

 

Explore books through playful illustrations and have a go at making your own simple sketchbook!

 

Tuesday 25 August, 10am-12pm and 1-3pm

 

Pop-up Illustrations – Cut and fold paper to create pop-up illustrations inspired by your favourite stories.

 

Children need to be supervised at all times and aged 5 +

Miniature Books – Create your own story or sketch concertina books to fill with words, drawings and ideas.
